½ Organic Red Bell Pepper, diced fine
½ Organic Green Bell Pepper, diced fine
1½ Teaspoons Organic Garlic, minced fine
4 NutBurger – Original Patties, Thawed
(Note: You can make the patties from frozen, just follow directions to lightly browned, each side, then crumble)
3 T. Organic Worstershire (Annie’s makes a great organic one)
1 T. Organic Tomato Paste
¼ Cup Organic Ketchup
½ Cup Organic Smoky BBQ Sauce (see recipe or use your favorite (just watch the hidden toxic ingredients)
1/8 Cup Organic Coconut Aminos
Garlic Toast Buns:
4-6 Whole Grain Organic Buns for serving, with garlic bread browning.
4 T. Organic Earth Balance or Vegan Butter, ½ t. garlic, dash of sea salt.
Note: These make excellent and quick leftovers, so double the batch and freeze in freezer-safe container and thaw or keep in refrigerator when you’re craving some quick comfort food that will make your body and heart jump for joy!!
Heat a dutch oven (I love cast iron) over medium heat and add the sunflower oil. Add onion and bell peppers and stir occasionally until translucent, slightly browned, approximately 8 minutes. Remove onion & bell peppers and set aside. Add 1 t. sunflower oil under each NutBurger patty and brown, then repeat on additional side. Break apart and add back in onion and bell pepper, and remaining ingredients. Heat all the way through, approximately 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Make garlic bread butter. Broil or skillet buns, until toasted.
Scoop Sloppy NutJoes on bun.
Serve with clean organic potato chips, yummy coleslaw or salad.
